Hello, and a very warm welcome to The Therapeutic Camper, based in Warwickshire.
I'm curious about you and what is happening for you. We can explore this together within the warm, safe, non-judgemental space of therapy.
My name is Val and I counsel Adults and Young People over 11 years old. I am a former Childline counsellor, along with experience as a secondary school counsellor. I am a registered BACP member - Val McFadden Profile and hold an enhanced DBS for Adults and CYP (Children and Young People).
Everyone needs and deserves a helping hand from time to time and it can take a lot of courage and bravery to make that step. I would be privileged to take that step with you.
If booking in-person sessions, our Canine Therapy support dog, registered with Canine Concern, can be booked if you wish.
If this is something you may be interested in, please mention this in our initial consultation chat.
For in-person sessions, they are held in my Glamping Pod, based in Wolston.
Wolston is commutable by bus from Coventry and Rugby, and by car from the wider Warwickshire, Leamington Spa, Warwick, Southam, Kenilworth, Bedworth, Nuneaton and surrounding villages. Sometimes having a commute can give you a little head space to process your session, before heading into life again.
It is well documented that Camping and being outside in nature provides many well-being benefits, but also it is also very versatile and flexible.
I wanted to take the positive elements of this and use them in the therapeutic space, required for therapeutic relationship to be created and nurtured.
I also wanted something different, which is why a glamping pod over a garden room, bespokely designed for counselling and therapy. There is something deeply comforting about sitting inside the curved wood. The curved nature conforms more naturally to the body and feels less rigid. Curved shapes can be more non-threatening and inviting, therefore evoking feelings of safety.
Human's can only heal and grow when they feel safe, so a therapeutic space which is non-judgemental, with the ability to build trust and safety for clients and the counsellor is central to our work together.
